Calligramme
Life forces one to look out into the darkness and step into the unknown. The sentences I chose to incorporate into this art are almost all questions. Not just any kind of questions, but questions with infinite answers. Our lives are like these open-ended questions that will lead us into unknown territory. Whether the answers we get are good or bad, it does not matter because there is always much more to experience.
Through this art, I would like to inspire those who see it to continue their journey through their unpredictable lives. Pick a planet that you find interesting, and fly full speed towards it. You are the captain of your own ship, so decide what is best for you and your crew. And although the journey may look dark, there are plenty of stars around you that will help guide your way. In this vast universe, remember that you are not alone.
To my futureself/old man,
Hello Gavin! How are you doing? Where are you living now? Have you moved around a lot? If you did, was it in or outside of the country? Or both? Multiple countries or just one? Are you married? Do you have any kids? Is your house big? Does it have a batcave? Did you really decide to move to Hawaii? Did you ever buy a boat and use your license? Or any other watercrafts? Did you reach the goals you set for your freshman year of college? Is your body doing okay? Has it been in any pain lately other than muscle soreness? Any injuries since the time that this was written? Have you been able to learn any flips or tricks? What about the front lever, planche, flag pole, or handstand? Did you ever decide to join any clubs or teams in college? How did those go? Are you proud of their outcomes and your efforts? What about in class? Were you able to keep your grades up and figure out how to study? Any deans lists made? How was graduation? Very long and boring I bet. Did you ever get to study abroad in another country? Once or twice? Or was it a semester at sea? Have you been able to travel where you would have liked to travel? What about your bucket list? Have you completed any of the items on it yet? How are your friends? Make any new ones and/or have you lost any? How is the family? How are mom and dad? Did they ever move to Florida after Mya was done with Highschool? Is everyone happy? Has anyone else achieved their dreams? Are you an uncle yet? Has One Piece ended? What was the ending? Did you like the ending? Have you introduced it to anyone else or gotten anyone to watch it? How were the next few phases of Marvel movies? Were they better than the ones after the Endgame movies? How about DC? Did they properly get their movies going? Are they good? Bad? Meh? Do you still drink chocolate milk? Did you ever get any new pets? Were they domestic? Any exotic? Raccoon? Monkey? Dog? Cat? Panther? Are there any bats in our batcave? Did you ever get better at golf? Or basketball? How were the clubs/parties between our times? Any better than the first at HPC? How was Dave Chappelle? Did you get to see any other comedies? What about any concerts? Did you ever attend any more? Did you ever get back into art? Drawing and/or painting? Did you ever buy any more legos? A lot? Do you have a big lego collection? Do you have a room dedicated to legos? Lastly, are you happy with your life now? What about in the past 20 years? Were you always content with it? Do you regret anything? If so, what was your biggest one? It's okay to tell me. I’m you, but just from 20 years ago.
Sincerely, you
