Over the course of this semester, I was able to learn many things using adobe apps such as illustrator, photoshop, and indesign. Using these tools was entirely new for me and it was definitely a struggle to figure out at first. Eventually, I was able to understand how to use everything and I think a lot of my projects turned out well. Out of the ones I made, I think my logo, animation and somewhere projects are my favorite to look at. I am glad that I have a basic understanding about adobe tools. This class also taught me about transporting files and I find that extremely useful in day to day situations. Overall, I enjoyed my time with these projects and I could see myself making similar things in the future.

Animation

Image
This short animation was made to resemble comic book characters with super powers. First, you can see the person power up to get stronger. Then, they charge up an energy blast that they shoot somewhere else in their own world. The character's movements were all individually set in each frame as well as the drawings; the energy blast and yellow aura surrounding the man are all hand drawn in each frame. The animation was made in over 300 frames.

Business Cards

Image
The pictures below are my personal business cards. The pictures above are the sketches I made for them. I used indesign to create these and I think they turned out nice. They did not come out exactly the way that I wanted them to because of the difficult designs of each one. If I had more time I could probably have figured out how to do them eventually. I really was hoping to get the diagonal contrast look, but my best attempt at that is the last business card on the bottom. I thought the idea was very unique and would have been cool to have done on at least one of the cards.

Postcard

Image
My inspiration behind my postcard was the proboscis monkey. These monkeys are known of being extremely loud due to their unusual noses. Their noses act like guitars, bouncing sound in and around them. Not many people actually know about this monkey, so to see a farm of them would be pretty cool.

Id HW 1

In this first video, the creator teaches you how to use the free transform tool. Similar to the select tool, this tool allows you to select, resize, and rotate frames. But in contrast, whenever you go to change the size of a picture, it resizes not only the frame, but the size of the picture keeping everything in ratio. This could be a helpful tool whenever you are quickly going around editing the placement of your pictures on your worksheet. This video was short and easy to follow, so applying this tool could be applied to your projects quickly.  In this next video, this creator shows us how to use the convert shape tool. This allows the user to turn any shape into another. There are only a few buttons that need to be hit, so it would be easy for anyone to find and apply to their work. I liked this video because not only did it show how to change the shapes using the convert shape tool, but it gave us other ways to change shapes including using the pen tool. I think I could ...

Somewhere

Image
The movie I chose to put myself into was Rush Hour. To make this picture, I used photoshop to make a "mask" out of a photo of myself. I then used the healing brush tool and the clone stamp tool to patch up and blend the two pictures together. I fixed the saturation of my own picture to match the rest of the scene's quality since it is quite an old movie. To put the icing on the cake, I put my brand logo in a green color that would pop out and show everybody that I made this picture.

Ps HW 3

Image
I found this image and thought it would be quite difficult to recreate. The color streaks look like they fit perfectly into the environment and I am not sure how the artist was able to accomplish this look. It reminds me of someone using a camera with slower shutter speeds to make moving light appear like it it staying where it once was. I wonder if there was maybe something else in the man's place that got cut out and replaced that originally had light.  This next picture inspired me to put myself in a photo with famous people. My idea is to put myself in the comedy movie "Rush Hour". This movie is about two detectives from two different countries who need to work together to save a Chinese diplomat's daughter after she was kidnapped. It is one of my favorite movies and it features Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan as the lead actors. I found this image quite funny because it reminded me of somebody I knew. I have seen James Fridman''s work before and he is an e...

BW to Color

Image
Being inspired by artist, Leonid Afremov, I came up with the idea of highlighting more of the important things in my picture. In the original photo, the common space where many memories have been made can be seen. In this room, there are couches, a bean bag, televisions, a rug, and gaming consoles. These items were given color in a gray space because they are able to bring together people of different backgrounds and let them have a good time. They give color to what was once a blank room. Without them, these people would not be the same friends that they are today.

Tag Brush

Image
This logo was sort of inspired by comics and cartoons. I liked the spray paint look and then I got the idea of coloring it like the Joker just left his mark at a crime scene. His iconic symbols are smiles and "Ha Ha" that are usually in green, red, white and purple. Then I thought of the movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In the movie, the characters are known for "glitching" because they are not in their right universes. The glitch color schemes can be seen as multiple colors, but I thought the green and purple would look good together for my logo to connect it to the joker theme I thought of at first.

Ps HW 2

Mixer Brush Tool      In this video, the mixer brush tool is used. I think this tool would be easy to use, but it could be used in a lot of cool ways. The way it can mix colors really reminds of an Apple advertisement for an IPhone or IPad. I think it is neat how the brush can mix multiple colors on the screen, sort of like how a real brush could mix colors from different colored paints. I believe making more advertisements with this tool would work out well and could attract people’s attention. Something interesting I found about this tutorial video was how the creator would highlight and zoom in on the parts of his screen he was using to give clear directions to the viewer. It was easy to follow along and anybody could understand what he was explaining. Spot Healing Brush      Another easy to use tool is the spot healing brush. This tool allows the user to remove any objects from an image with just a click and drag. This tool could be really helpful when ...

Ps HW 1

One image that brought me close to my emotions was the image of putin. I think the idea of being able to get anyone to open up is a beautiful idea no matter how they may seem. I think Putin’s picture is one of the best pictures that symbolizes Platon’s work because Platon did not look at Putin’s political life, but instead he looked at his human life. Platon likes to ask people about their lives and is able to see past certain aspects of their lives. He gets personal and completes an entire story instead of just one chapter. With Putin, he was able to talk about the Beatles and find common ground with someone who most would say is levels of importance above Platon. People, especially those who are famous and influential, may have one side of them that is overseen. Nobody is just one thing no matter how they may be portrayed and too many people have parts of themselves that are forgotten about by many outsiders. This could be dehumanizing in ways and to have someone ask about you could ...

Propaganda

Image
My original propaganda idea was to tell people to drink chocolate milk because of how beneficial it can be for our health. My poster was inspired by a Chinese propaganda poster featuring the old Chinese leader Mao Zedong. In the original poster, Mao’s face is seen in the sun overlooking lots of sunflowers. Below the sunflowers were red words that mean something, but I do not know what they mean. To recreate this image, I started off by using the shape tool to create a rectangle to fill the page with colors to match the background. I used the gradient tool to get the exact orange and yellow that I needed. Then, in my poster I put my own face in the sun by making stars with many points to create the sun and its rays. After that I placed my own self-portrait and changed the color palette  to match the original poster. Next up, I had to make the glasses of chocolate milk, so to do this I started off making triangles and then cutting them with rectangles and pathfinder to create the sha...

Logo

Image
Somethings that inspired me to make my logo are minimalist movie posters. I really liked the idea of creating myself as the logo while still keeping my initials a part of it. Since both the “G” and “e” are round like glasses, I thought that those letters would be a good substitution from the basic frame. The coloring done was mostly based off of my favorite colors of black, blue and purple. The last logo design was more realistic with the hair being similar in color to my own and the glasses staying black.  The way I created this was by starting off with the shape tool on adobe illustrator to create the hair out of rounded rectangles and ovals. I then moved on to the glasses by creating two black circles and two white circles. By making the white circles smaller than the black ones, I was able to create the circular shape of the letters. U sing the pathfinder and shape tools, I created rectangles that would finish out each of the letters and also connect them. Finally, I was able...

Calligramme

Life forces one to look out into the darkness and step into the unknown. The sentences I chose to incorporate into this art are almost all questions. Not just any kind of questions, but questions with infinite answers. Our lives are like these open-ended questions that will lead us into unknown territory. Whether the answers we get are good or bad, it does not matter because there is always much more to experience.          Through this art, I would like to inspire those who see it to continue their journey through their unpredictable lives. Pick a planet that you find interesting, and fly full speed towards it. You are the captain of your own ship, so decide what is best for you and your crew. And although the journey may look dark, there are plenty of stars around you that will help guide your way. In this vast universe, remember that you are not alone.   To my futureself/old man,  Hello Gavin! How are you doing? Where are yo...

https://youtu.be/4c4bEoT_mwE?si=FSsmKm1Urn29s8NI      The tool used in this video was “divide” in the “pathfinder” tab under “window” and it allows for you to cut shapes in any way you would like as many times as you would like. I think this tool would be really easy to use. If I were to be making some sort of graphic design, I think this tool would be really helpful in making a design based off of the shapes I had. Something I found interesting about the video was its 60 second explanation. They only had a five second intro and then got right into showing the tool. A lot of content creators like to add long intros and extra content that is not needed in a tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tZsafZEQ2E      The tool used in this video is the repeat grip tool. This tool allows you to essentially copy and paste an item into a grid format with columns and rows. It also allows you to change the spacing in between the shapes and the size of the grid. I t...

Internet / WWW / Lamarr / Wi-Fi / Bluetooth

Internet / WWW  The internet is a large network of computers that is able to connect with one another through network nodes, connection points that allow for communication and redistribution of data. This system was created through the numerous developments done by several scientists while the credit for inventing the internet that we still use today mostly goes to Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn who both came up with the Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Published in 1974, TCP and IP became the standard for how information would be able to be shared between networks. The earliest version of the internet was created by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA but formally known as ARPA) to link computers in institutions funded by the pentagon over telephone lines (through AT&T). Military leaders during the Cold War wanted a sort of communications network without a central nucleus to stop their enemies from being able to attack one head...

Hello! My name is Gavin Eshenbaugh and I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was born and mostly raised around the area, moving many times during my upbringing. Even living in Alabama for a short time during my early childhood. My family eventually settled back in a small town named Sewickley where I attended elementary, middle and high school.        Sports and athletics have always been a big part of my life though the three sports I’ve spent the most time with are football, track and field, and wrestling. And I am always willing to pick up something new as well. One of my biggest accomplishments is becoming a 2x All-American javelin thrower in the AAU Junior Olympics. Over the past year, I have gotten more into soccer, bouldering, and volleyball. I have a great group of friends who like to stay active and compete with each other. We all hit the gym and workout as well as play sports. My family has always been around me when it included sports...
